Coaches
Coaches who teach position before flash, correct the small things, and know every wrestler in the room by name. A good coach can change a game; a great coach can change a life.
Culture
Hard work, taught patiently. Shake hands, help a partner up, lose without excuses and win without gloating. We work hard and we play hard — especially our coaches.
Community
We are committed to the families who call this place home — parents in the bleachers on weeknights and in the same hotel lobby on tournament weekends.
Why wrestling
The hardest six minutes
a kid will ever love
Wrestling is one of the few sports where a young athlete cannot hide. There is no bench, no ball to pass, no one else to blame. That is exactly what makes it such a powerful teacher.
On the mat, kids learn to set their feet, keep their head up and keep working when they are tired. Off the mat, that shows up as discipline in the classroom, confidence in the hallway and the kind of toughness that carries into football, baseball, soccer and every other sport they play.
Our job is to make that experience demanding and fun — a room where first-timers feel welcome and returning wrestlers get pushed.
What makes AWC different
Specific training for specific groups
Every level has its own class
Four-year-olds are not thrown in with sixth graders, and competition-team wrestlers are not stuck waiting through introductory games. Beginner Ages 4–6, Beginner Ages 7–10, AWC Fundamentals, AWC Intermediate and TX Select are each their own class, not just their own hour — the coaching, the pace and the partner matchups are built for the athletes in that room.
A real path forward
Start in Fundamentals, move up to Intermediate when you are ready, and compete on the travel side with TX Select. Nobody has to change clubs to keep progressing.
High schoolers welcome
High school wrestlers train in the Intermediate and TX Select sessions — extra live time and drilling for athletes already competing for their school.

Beginner · Ages 4–6Tue & Thu, 4:00–5:00 PM
First steps on the mat. Movement, balance, body awareness and wrestling games — taught in short bursts that match how young kids actually learn.

Beginner · Ages 7–10Tue & Thu, 5:00–6:00 PM
Real positions and real technique: stance and motion, takedowns, escapes, pinning combinations, and how to compete hard without losing composure.

AWC FundamentalsMon, Wed & Fri, 5:00–6:00 PM
The technical base of the club. Repetition of the core positions every wrestler needs before they can win consistently — open to newcomers and returning athletes alike.

AWC IntermediateWed & Fri, 6:00–7:30 PM
Ninety-minute sessions with chain wrestling, situational drilling and live rounds for wrestlers who have the basics down. High school wrestlers are welcome.

TX Select · Competition TeamMon, Tue & Thu, 6:00–7:30 PM
The travel and competition team. Tournament preparation, live wrestling and the state series for athletes who want to test it on a weekend bracket.

The AWC way
Brick by brick
“Brick by brick. Very proud of our kids and thankful for their parents.”
Nobody gets good at this in a week. A stance gets a little lower, a shot gets a little faster, a kid who used to quit in the third period stops quitting. That is the whole job, repeated a few hundred times a season.
It is also why the room looks the way it does on a Tuesday night: beginners and state qualifiers on the same mat, working the same positions at different speeds.

Bryan, Texas
Texas Select Wrestling grapplers representing Aledo Wrestling Club competed at the Texas Nationals individual tournament and the Come & Take It Duals on January 10–11 at Legends Event Center in Bryan.
- Reece Lizak Most Outstanding Wrestler at 58 lb in Girls Division 2, and first place in that division. Finished 5–1 in the Come & Take It Duals.
- Dyson Went undefeated in the duals to earn All-American honors.
- “Warrior Up” composite squad Lizak, Dyson, Nathaniel Heard and Russell joined athletes from Liberty Christian to place fourth overall.

Thoroughly impressed with this club. Just started my 7 year old here a few weeks ago and he’s already made more progress than he did in 7-8 months at another local club. The passion that these coaches and the owner have for the sport and developing new wrestlers is amazing to see and on full display at every single practice. Coach Mason, Jose, and Glen are super solid and prime examples of someone you would want to be mentoring and pouring into your young athlete. I am so happy that we made the jump to this club and truly cannot say enough positive things about how our experience has been thus far. They’ve built something pretty special here and I’m excited to watch its growth and community buy-in over the next coming years.
Aledo Wrestling Club truly sees the individual wrestler. The coaches are patient and know how to develop athletes in one of the most physically demanding sports there is. They also understand that every family has different goals—and not all of them are about becoming a D1 athlete. Sometimes the goal is simply to get more involved with your school, build confidence, and work hard. They support that. If the goal is to become a state champion and pursue D1 opportunities, they have the structure to support that too! Even better, the kids in the club respect each other no matter their skill level. That says a lot about the culture the coaches and owners have built.
Incredible place. Coaches are so good at engaging and leading the kids. In a month my son and daughter made huge strides in knowledge and skills. Very thankful we found Aledo Wrestling Club!
Glen, Brittany and all of the coaches keep a good work ethic going with a willingness to teach and a can do attitude. My 2 kiddos have a great time while learning the right lessons in an environment that is clean & well cared for. Thanks again to Glen and his team!
